The corner of 3rd / Oak Downtown Portland Torn down in 1955
Currently the site is a large fenced off hole in the ground. This building along with many of the other iron fronts downtown was torn down in an attempt to modernize Portland in the 50's and 60's. Some of the buildings that were razed were replaced by cheap, uninspired architecture, or very often not replaced at all. Many of the food cart lots in down town are the former sites of these iron giants.
