Soviet vespa clone on ebay

There is currently a 1963 Vjatka for sale on ebay with a starting bid of $2280 and no takers. The Vjatka was a soviet scooter manufacturer that cloned the Vespa as well as some other scooters of the 50's and 60's. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of information out there in English, which leaves one to speculate, was this another one of the Soviet Union's awkward attempts to take something cheap and make it cheaper, or could it actually be a quality piece of machinery? It also leads one to wonder whether or not Italian scooter parts will fit on it when the engine of questionable reliability throws a rod? Either way, the Soviets did manage to preserve the beautiful lines of the classic Italian Vespa, as well as give it a rather attractive paint scheme. Also a plus, the Russian head badge and speedometer definitely sweeten the deal.
